Engineer Apprenticeship | In-house with Street Cranexpress

At Street Cranexpress we endeavour to develop young talent into highly trained, qualified engineers through our SCE Academy apprenticeship programme.

Apprentices work through a specifically designed programme, providing them with a variety of experience and training that will prepare them for a future career in this specialist field of engineering.

How does it work?

An SCE Academy apprenticeship lasts 4 years. By the end of the course, through a mix of college attendance, mentoring and additional in-house and external courses, our apprentices will have all the qualifications and skills needed to become a successful Service Engineer.

Working together with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), the first part of the programme is the completion of a BTEC & NVQ level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, lasting approximately 2 years:

For months 0-6, the apprentice will attend college full-time, with one day per month spent at our office in Sheffield.

The remaining 18 months will be spent one day per week at college, and four days shadowing a fully qualified mentor.

In addition to the hands-on experience with a mentor, our apprentices also complete:

Two men in a warehouse examining a light crane system
A man standing next to a board with electrical components, teaching some staff members.

A 10-day City and Guilds Electrical Maintenance course, followed by a 3 day 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations course.

Various workshops throughout the year, to expand and test knowledge.

The LEEA Foundation Course, followed by the LEEA Advanced Course.

LEEA Advanced

Passing the LEEA Advanced Course is required to complete year four and pass the SCE Academy apprenticeship programme. After successfully completing the SCE Academy apprenticeship, apprentices will be invited to apply for the position of Service Engineer with Street Cranexpress.
