Safety on site is of paramount importance to Street Cranexpress, for the protection of both our engineers and customers. Regular audits, inspections, and a robust system of two-way communication with our engineers through our revered Business Management System, has created a culture of continuous improvement throughout the SCE group.
Street Cranexpress have been awarded the Gold RoSPA Award which demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards.
Each of our engineers has completed the LEEA Foundation Course, which covers common types of lifting equipment and key topics relevant to our industry. A number of our engineers have taken the knowledge gained on the foundation course and moved on to the Lifting Equipment General Advanced Programme, which focuses on the inspection and thorough examination of lifting accessories.
All Street Cranexpress engineers are actively encouraged towards qualifying for a LEEA TEAM Card; a scheme run by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) to raise standards of safety in lifting equipment testing, examination and maintenance.
Street Cranexpress is committed to continuous improvement and training and these cards officially demonstrate our engineers’ competency, experience, and evidence of training.
Currently, all our service engineers either hold a TEAM card plus numerous LEEA specialist qualifications or are in the process of qualifying by having taken at least one of the entry exams. This means that you can be sure that the person responsible for looking after your lifting equipment is more than qualified to do so.
In addition to the wealth of experience our engineers possess, they receive the highest standards of training, appropriate to their role, including:
Each member of Street Cranexpress senior management have completed the IOSH Leading Safety course and our Service & Key Account management staff have successfully completed the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
With a full-time SHEQ Manager and UK Service Managers trained to NEBOSH General Certificate standard, Street Cranexpress have the resources available to conduct pre-arranged safety visits on customer sites as required. This may include meeting with customer safety and management representatives to discuss challenges posed by specific hazards on site or safety audits to ensure our engineers are safe on site and performing their work professionally and in accordance with the information, instruction and training they receive.
In addition to the Site Risk Assessment and Site Method statements produced by our operational staff, a ‘Point-of-Work’ risk assessment and method statement is conducted by the engineer, prior to any work beginning on our customer’s sites. These documents, which are completed electronically on the engineers’ tablets, provide an opportunity to review the site conditions on the day and assess any hazards present to our engineers, other contractors and customer staff, which have not already been considered during the Site Risk Assessment. The relevant customer representative views the dynamic risk assessment and method of work before any work begins.
Following consultation with our staff, Petzl harnesses, lanyards and hard hats are purchased and issued to each engineer. Although Petzl are commonly associated with recreational climbing, the conform, safety and ease of use of their products are a perfect match for our engineers who spend a great amount of their days working at height.
Street Cranexpress acknowledges the impact that our operations may potentially have on the environment. Our environmental management system continually meets the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.
Our waste carrier licence allows us to remove any waste we have generated on customer sites and dispose of this via the appropriate waste stream.
We are extremely proud of how our business reacted to the COVID-19 pandemic and continued our operations in the face of a challenge like nothing any of our staff have ever experienced in their lifetimes.
We have remained alert to advice produced by the government and have complied with their guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19, including:
