Street CraneXpress delivers light crane system for NG Bailey

06th February 2017

Street CraneXpress, the Sheffield-based crane and hoist lifting solutions firm, has completed the installation of its new light crane system for engineering firm NG Bailey.

NG Bailey required a lifting solution to safely handle loads of up to 400kg in a newly-refurbished workshop at its West Yorkshire premises. This was part of their continued investment in their Offsite Manufacture Division, with the recent addition of a T-Drill stainless steel extrusion machine and crane system.

The light crane system from Street CraneXpress was specified as part of the refit, and the workshop is now in full service for stainless steel pipe cutting, welding and extrusion duties. Designed and installed by Street CraneXpress, the system maximises cross- and long- travel in the workshop. The truss-reinforced bridge spans 10 metres across and moves along a similarly reinforced gantry, running the 22 metre length of the building.

The hoist is electrically powered, leaving the operator free to focus on the task of manoeuvring and positioning the load, which requires almost negligible effort thanks to the low inertia, free-moving bridge and hoist assemblies.

The whole system is floor-mounted and adds no extra stresses to the structure of the building. In addition, the entire system can be removed and relocated at a later date.

NG Bailey’s manufacturing manager, Andy Charlesworth, says:

“As a leading engineering company we pride ourselves on driving Health & Safety improvements via our ‘Safety First & Foremost’ guiding principle. Therefore it was important to find a lifting solution that would safely handle the required loads, while also maximising the amount of workshop space available to us, plus avoiding any costs of strengthening the building. The light crane system delivered by Street CraneXpress met all of our expectations, and we’re looking forward to the benefits it will bring to our business.”

Duncan Randall, sales manager At Street CraneXpress, adds:

“The solution we provided to NG Bailey demonstrates many of the benefits of a light crane system: a fast, economic installation, giving simple, safe and precise movement of loads across the entire workshop floor. The benefits to NG Bailey include greater efficiency, faster operations, improved load-handling safety, and reduced operator fatigue.”

The new light crane system fits neatly into Street CraneXpress’s existing range of cranes and hoists. The company also offers preventative maintenance contracts that keep cranes and hoists in top condition, minimising future repair costs and reducing the risk of production downtime.

Street CraneXpress supplies a range of precision lifting equipment, installation services, planned maintenance contracts, spare parts and training to businesses across the UK.
